Entrance Exam Description
During the selection process we examine the competency of the applicant in two ways:
The faculty decides about the eligibility of the applicant by examining the documents of previous studies (degree, subject, results). This is followed by an entrance exams that evaluate the level of study-language and basic subjects depends on speciality.
The exams can be conducted online. In order to validate the entrant’s person, exams taken remotely are recorded on video, as is the person verification process. The recording is archived for at least five years on University’s grounds and the link to that recording is available in the united base of Ministry of Education of Ukraine.
Program Structure
Semester 1 — Foundations & Core UAV / Aviation‑Systems Knowledge
- Aviation Transport & Air‑Navigation Systems Fundamentals — you learn basics of how air‑transport works: airspace, navigation, air traffic environment, which is essential for UAV integration.
- Basics of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) — studying UAV design, structure, control principles, flight dynamics, ground control systems and UAV components.
- Electronics, Communication & Control Systems for UAVs — how communication, data transmission, control, sensors and avionics systems inside UAVs function.
- Navigation, GNSS & Geographic / Environmental Monitoring Systems — learning how to use navigation satellite systems (GNSS) and remote sensing tools often used in UAV operations for mapping, monitoring, surveying.
Semester 2 — Advanced Systems, Operations & Integration
- UAV Systems Design, Integration & Testing — applying design principles, integrating avionics, control, communication, load‑carrying and payload systems, testing reliability and safety.
- Flight Planning, Airspace Management & UAV Operations — planning UAV flights, understanding airspace regulations, safety protocols, operations management.
- Data Acquisition, Remote Sensing & Geosystem Monitoring with UAVs — using UAVs for environmental monitoring, aerial photography, mapping, data collection, integrating aerial data into geographic / environmental systems.
- Aviation Safety, Certification & Regulatory Compliance for UAVs — studying safety standards, certification procedures, regulation compliance required for unmanned aerial systems in civil aviation or industrial use.
Semester 3 — Application, Research & Final Project / Thesis
- Applied Project / Research in UAV Systems or Environmental Monitoring — you carry out an applied project: designing a UAV system, implementing remote‑sensing mission, integrating UAV data into monitoring or aviation systems.
- Specialized Electives (depending on interest) — e.g. advanced UAV avionics, autonomous systems, drone‑based mapping / surveying, UAV application in logistics / agriculture / environment / security.
- Practical Training / Flight Testing / Laboratory Work — hands‑on experience: working with real UAVs, conducting test flights, operating ground‑control stations, data processing, testing system reliability and safety.
- Master’s Thesis / Final Research Work — a substantial scientific or engineering project: could be development of UAV system, a study on UAV safety/efficiency, an environmental‑monitoring application, or a design/ certification project for unmanned aircraft complex.
Overview
The program prepares you for advanced work with UAVs and unmanned aerial systems: designing, operating, servicing and researching drones and their systems. You’ll study how unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and their control, navigation, communication and data‑processing systems work — combining aviation, electronics, automation, and environmental or geosystem monitoring. The goal is to form professionals capable not only of piloting or operating UAVs, but also of contributing to the development, certification, safety, and integration of unmanned aerial systems into air transport and other applications.
Career Opportunities
With this MSc you could work as:
- A UAV / unmanned aerial systems engineer or specialist (designing, maintaining, testing drones or their subsystems).
- A geosystem / remote‑sensing / environmental monitoring specialist, using UAVs for mapping, environmental surveys, aerial photography, monitoring infrastructure or terrain.
- A flight‑test engineer or UAV operator in aviation, transport, or industries that use unmanned systems (agriculture, surveying, environmental monitoring, security, logistics, etc.).
- A researcher — since the degree is “researcher‑specialist,” you can continue to a PhD or R&D work in UAV design, avionics, remote sensing, aerospace systems or related fields.
Because unmanned systems are increasingly used globally — in transport, environment, infrastructure, agriculture, security — the skills from this programme are relevant internationally.
