Entrance Exam Description

Exams are taken online. I order to validate the entrant’s person, exams taken remotely are recorded on video, as is the person verification process. The recording is archived for at least five years on Academy’s grounds and the link to that recording is available in the united base of Ministry of Education of Ukraine.

- English Language Practice I (grammar, phonetics, listening, speaking, reading, vocabulary)
- Academic Writing & Information Literacy
- Second Foreign Language I (German — basics)
- Cultural Studies / Country Studies of English-speaking Countries
- IT for the Humanities
- Electives (e.g., Rhetoric/Public Speaking)

Year 2 — Core Philology & Language Systems
- English Grammar (advanced) & Phonetics (advanced)
- Lexicology & Phraseology; Morphology & Syntax
- English Language Practice II (writing workshop; academic/professional communication)
- Literary Studies I (Introduction to Literary Theory; Survey of British & American Literature)

Translation Studies I (foundations; contrastive grammar)

Intercultural Communication

Second Foreign Language II (pre-intermediate)

Year 3 — Specialization & Applied Skills
- English Stylistics; Text Linguistics & Discourse Analysis
- Translation Studies II (general, socio-political, business translation; basics of consecutive interpreting)
- Corpus Linguistics / Digital Tools for Translators; Terminology & Lexicography
- Literature & Culture (genre studies; contemporary literature)
- Second Foreign Language III (intermediate; reading for translation)
- Career-oriented Electives (e.g., Business English; Media Editing/Language for Tourism)
- Translation/Field Internship; Research Project Proposal

Year 4 — Integration, Practice, Qualification
- Pragmatics & Sociolinguistics; Intercultural Mediation
- Specialized Translation (e.g., legal, economic, medical — per elective track)
- Editing & Proofreading; Basics of Localization / ESP (English for Specific Purposes)
- Pre-Diploma Internship (translation/editorial/teaching assistant)
- Research Methodology; Bachelor’s Thesis (defense)
- Comprehensive Qualification Exam.

Overview

The program is oriented towards training multifaceted specialists in philology and translation able to solve problems in linguistics, translation and literature in at least two languages (English and German).
